UK Public Survey of Risk Perception, Resilience and Preparedness 2026: Headline Findings
The 2026 national survey found that 50% of respondents felt their household was only slightly prepared or not at all prepared for an emergency. It also found 68% expected the number of emergencies in the UK to increase over the next decade, while only a minority had substantial water reserves at home.

Why this matters
Prepared Base view: The awareness gap is real. People broadly accept that emergencies are becoming more likely, but many households still have limited practical readiness. That is exactly the gap Prepared Base is designed to help close.
What you can do
Use the findings as a prompt to assess your own household: water, food, lighting, communications, first aid and a simple emergency plan. Fix the easiest gaps first rather than trying to do everything at once.
